Welcome to the Register of Actions (ROA) - Help


Introduction

The Register of Actions (ROA) is a summary of key actions in a case, excluding confidential and sealed information.

 

ROA information is only available for Civil (including Small Claims) and Probate cases filed on or after January 1, 2008 and with the following case number format:  XX-YYYY-87654321-CC-TT-LLL

 

For example: 37-2007-00004321-CU-BC-CTL

Court Code - 2 numbers, which for San Diego will always be 37

2007

Calendar year the case is initiated - 4 numbers

00004321

Sequence Number - 8 numbers (Leading zeros must be entered)

CU

Case Category Code - Small Claims (SC), Civil Limited (CL), Civil Unlimited (CU) or Probate (PR)

BC

Case Type Code - Breach of Contract(BC), Small Claims(SC), Guardianship(GS,) or Unlawful Detainer(UD), Fraud (FR), or many others

CTL

Location Code - Central (CTL), South County Division (SC), North County Division (NC) or East County Division (EC)

 

Functionality

The sections below contain information that may be helpful when using the Register of Actions.

Printing

To access a printable version of the complete Register of Actions:

1. Click on the Printer-Friendly Version (All Entries) link

2. Print the page to your printer

3. Click the Back button, in your browser, to return to the ROA page.

Sorting

The ROA entires are initially displayed in descending order.

1. Clicking the Entry Date link will sort entry dates in ascending order, re-clicking will sort in descending order.

Filtering

The ROA entries for a case are initially displayed without any filtering (All Entries). Other available options are:

1. Click on the Filing Information Only link to display only filing-related entries.

2. Click on the Scheduling Information Only link to display only schedule-related entries.

3. Click on the All Entries link to re-display all the entries.

Viewing

If there are more that 100 ROA entries for a case, only the first 100 entries are initially displayed. To view more entries for a case, use the page navigation links at the bottom of the page.

A selection to indicate the main category of case classification used to identify a case

Unlimited Civil

Case Type

The second level of case classification used to identify a case

Breach of Contract

Case Age

The age of the case. This age is based on when the initial filing document was submitted with the court and is counted in calendar days

Next Event type

The name of the next expected event that is scheduled for the case, if any

Case Management Conference

Date Filed

The date the case was initiated in Superior Court

Case Status

Current status of the case

Judgment Enforcement Stayed

 Location

The Court location where the physical case file can be found

Central

Judicial Officer

The Judicial Officer associated to this action, if any

Roy Bean

Department

The courtroom, at the court location associated with the action, if any.

The date of the next expected event associated with the case, if any

NOTE: The entry date on the Register of Actions may not always reflect the actual filing date of a document.

This exception is for entries that add a filing to a case. For Add Filing entires, the Filing Date reflects the date in which the filing was filed (may be a date in the past or current date).  Actions that edit a filing will reflect the date in which the entry was recorded (current date).

Short/Long Entry

The short or long version of the standard text that is used to describe the ROA entry. The Long Entry will only display if it has a value. Otherwise it will display the Short Entry.

Collection Notice Generated

 Filed by

The names of the case participants (and their related roles) who filed the filing that created this ROA entry. This field may be empty if the entry did not relate to a filing.
